Radically Open DBT Skills Class (Group Therapy)

The group for people who don't like groups.

At Jeong Healing Therapy, our Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) Skills Class provides a supportive and structured group environment for individuals who struggle with overcontrol—characterized by perfectionism, emotional inhibition, or rigid thinking patterns. RO DBT is designed to cultivate emotional openness, increase flexibility, and promote authentic connection with others.

What Is RO DBT?

RO DBT is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on helping individuals develop the skills to embrace vulnerability, improve relationships, and find balance in their lives. Unlike traditional DBT, which is tailored for emotional dysregulation, RO DBT is specifically designed to address challenges with overcontrol.

What You’ll Learn in the Skills Class

Our group sessions are designed to teach practical skills in a safe, collaborative environment. Key focus areas include:

  • Increasing Emotional Openness: Learn to identify, express, and process emotions more effectively.
  • Building Flexible Thinking: Develop strategies to move away from rigid thought patterns and perfectionism.
  • Strengthening Relationships: Cultivate authentic connections and improve interpersonal dynamics.
  • Cultivating Self-Compassion: Practice accepting yourself with kindness, even in moments of perceived failure.
  • Enhancing Social Safety: Reduce social anxiety and feel more comfortable engaging with others.

How the Class Works

  • Class Size: Small, supportive groups ensure a sense of safety and connection.
  • Structure: Weekly sessions combining skills teaching, discussion, and real-life application.
  • Length: The class runs for 2 hours with a break, allowing time to learn and practice skills.
  • Materials: Participants receive a training manual, handouts and exercises to reinforce learning between sessions.

Is This Class Right for You?

RO DBT Skills Class is ideal for individuals who:

  • Struggle with perfectionism or self-criticism.
  • Feel emotionally inhibited or disconnected from others.
  • Experience difficulty adapting to change or uncertainty.
  • Seek to improve interpersonal relationships and reduce loneliness.
